BOSS is black oil sunflower seeds. It is the sunflower seeds you often see in bird seed that are all black rather than striped. They have better nutrition that the regular kind.

im pretty sure boss is just another word for with he mother... hey yall i am also interested in starting ff im just tryin to come up with a mixture to add into it what do yall add in? and is it ok to store ff outside?

BOSS doesn't have anything to do with ACV or fermenting -- just a variety of sunflower seed

I am also new to ff.I have read the blog on natural chicken keeping(loved it) as well as others.anyway I started giving this to my chickens almost a week now.I think(and I hope its only my imagination) ,but they look as tho there loosing weight. I worry there getting skinny.they are eating the feed and I was just concerned that I may be doing something wrong. Has anyone else expierenced this. And maybe its just from the recent change in diet.

see this is something why i am scared to try it but it cant hurt to try and see... u should watch your chickens while they eat and see if they r actually eating it or maybe u r making the mox wrong...idk

no problem. It's confusing all the terms and acronyms.

Another name for the mother is a "scoby" -- that is the white disc that is the active culture you can use to make ACV.

NO! you cant it has to have some air circulating to it or itll mold you can cover with a towel.,.

And just to throw out there you can ferment the sunflower seeds in your ff itg boosts the protein levels...
