Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I want one! Make it spiral-back please.

Lisa :)

I was thinking about that...wouldn't that make it easy for the pages to be ripped out and lost? I was thinking about a very tough, almost waterproof cover...very plain and utilitarian like the old livestock books of old. I'd like the cover to be a kraft paper brown or barn red, with black lettering. Maybe recycled paper. Sort of like the Old Farmer's Almanac...

I've had many great titles picked out and they'd certainly grab your eye on the sale counter...but I'm out of the mood for them now and I think brevity would be best. How about "Chickens, Vol. I"? Maybe with a subtitle of Basic Guide to Natural Flock Management. Sort of a tongue in cheek nod to a utilitarian approach to chicken husbandry?

Sounds good. I like basic and to the point. Thorough answers without all the wordiness.

Just "Chicken Husbandry" sounds great, with that sub-title. I love the simplicity idea. That cover sounds perfect. Nostalgic and true to the era of the contents.

Yes, spiral bound pages can be torn out easier, but at the same time, you can fold the book in half for that time you're trying to hold a chicken in one hand and the book in the other. I love finding them in that format. It also makes publishing easy. You can print them at FedEx Kinko's fairly reasonably. Even better, print it to a location near the buyer for them to pick up! Save on shipping there. Oh, the ideas that are flowing...

Besides, if you start in eBook form, it gets the word out and revenue flowing towards hard copies!

Yeppers! I could buy a copy and start reading it on my DH's Kindle tonight, and put myself on a mailing list to be notified when you print 'em.

Not sure where Costa et al. went too... hmm...

Okay....you guys are waaaaayyyyy ahead of this old country woman! I'm going to spend the next couple of days studying up on ebooks and all the ins and outs and get back to you. You understand that I have absolutely NO money for start up costs, so this is going to take some doing. I know there are always some bucks that have to flow down the line somewhere to get anything published in any form, so don't get your hopes up on it too much.

I do know that, if you charge too little, people think it's not worth much and if you charge too much it's not going to be affordable, so I'll have to choose a middle of the road, leaning towards more affordable. I do know that $.99 won't work...I've given away too many free things of great value to people who turned up their noses at them because they were free, so I know the nature of humans. For some reason they have the attitude that you have to pay a lot for something for it to be worth anything. It'll take some figuring, to be sure. I like things to be cheap and worth my money at the same time.
