Ferrets Anyone?

Nope! I am not kidding. I eat chicken and love to train and work with animals to accomplish tasks. I see a border collie in my future. Like I said I have considered it!

Raising chickens for meat is fine. I personally don't but I understand the economical reasons to. The reason this is a bad idea is that it is inhumane. A ferret/ weasel is not going to kill the chicken instantly or cleanly. There are far better ways to cull a chicken.

I know that, however most of the time in nature predators kill their prey rather quickly by going straight for the jugular. But like I said I decided against it anyway's so no worries! When we butcher we don't use ferrets and do it in a very humane fashion.

Yes both, lol. I have never heard of anyone wanting to have a animal do their slaughtering for them, maybe herd them into an area to capture but not do the job. Yes the reactions make for in interesting conversation

What do you think of the idea? I decided a while back that I wouldnt do it but it is interesting to talk about! Dog's hunt for people and cat's mouse so...

I don't think it is a very good idea. Personally I think ferrets are disgusting animals, some people like them, whatever floats ur boat. I have had friends who had them and they are stinky little weasels as far as I am concerned. I wouldn't compare a cat mousing to having a ferret kill chickens, I am sure the cat kills a mouse pretty instantly being a mouse is a tiny animal, the hunting dog analogy doesn't work either as hunting dogs are there to chase the animal to the hunter or to point out where the animal is or to retrieve the animal after the hunter shoots it, the dog is not there to make the kill, in my state it is illegal to allow your hunting dog to harm the game animal.

Huh, well my original idea was to have them hunt mice for me but... I think I decided against that one too! It's kinda fun to post a topic that is a little off color and watch people run loops! I know you have been getting a kick out of it! My dad thinks ferrets are nasty too.My mom loves them. I figure I'll decide if I really want one after school. Kinda ironic for me to have a crazy idea like that and be going to school for animal control right? Maybe I should just turn myself in! LOL
