Avia Charge 2000 is another good avian vitamin/mineral/amino acid supplement.


Be careful with citronella around the birds, Elite. If it's very strong, that alone can be harmful to them. Strong aromatics can be fatal to birds so make sure it's far enough away from the coops themselves.

Polyvisal is a vitamin. I use the Polyvisol without Iron (infant vitamin).
Also, I picked up some cock booster that has vitamins & minerals formulated for chickens in pellet form. I have been mixing it into their feed.

OOOO I did not know about the Citronella. I have a candle near the coop that I used once to chase the mosquitos away. I was afraid to use it again because of our burn ban we are under right now. I hate this drought. I also hung up some vanilla car freshners cus I read on here that it helps with the flies. It does too, but if this is an irratant then I will stop using it.

I have not started the Deneguard yet as I just got it and they currently have the ACV in their water. I was gonna do a day of clear water then start the Denaguard and use it for 10 days like the breeder I ordered the chicks from told me to do. If this works I won't need to cull anyone I hope. Not sure on Saphire, but I want to give her a chance before hanging the curtain on her. Picked up some yogurt to give them as treat while they are on the Deneguard for the probiotics.

If the 3 that are showing symptoms clear up and no one else is getting sick then it should be good? On breeding for hardiness the book I read said to cull birds that become sick easily and not to breed those.

The talk of how wide spread the MG is saddening. It can feel depressing when you live close to folks that let their birds wander whereever and do not attempt biosecurity.

You could move the torches a bit further away from the coops. Can't say for sure how far would be safe. You just don't want that strong scent wafting into the coops.

I use muscovy ducks for mosquitoes.

Yes, the birds should be safe to eat, I would think.

Being fairly new to chickens, just a year now and I was brand new then, I have a lot to learn. This Oxine that you are talking about, what is it, where do I get it, can we still eat the eggs if using it and you said we can use a spray bottle?
