Finally a female and my first ever bred quail egg!

In my first batch, I had all males, and in my second batch I got a male and female and in the 3rd and 4th it looks like I have even more females! I was looking at my community quail pen which houses 9 youngsters, 2 of which are a little bit older, and giving them some millet grass when I noticed this tucked away at the back of the cage:

My first bred-quail egg, the hen who laid it is about 10 or 11 weeks old, so I was having doubts on her gender despite hearing her female calls as usually it is 6 to 9 weeks old when they lay, but here it is!

Congrats! I'm still waiting on my first. Can't wait, I did see one of the males in the general aviary section mating one of the females so I'm hoping I'm getting close!

Mine mated way before the first egg was laid, which hinted to me having a hen.

Probably since it was so late, the 'egg factory' had time to prepare more, got a second egg today, a little larger than the last one but still quite small compared to the other quail eggs from the older hens.

Got my first egg today at 6.5 weeks! It is a tiny little thing thing. It came from one of the pens I have set up as breeders so one male and five girls. Can't wait till more come online. LOl

Well, this was a surprise! Turns out the tuxedo one is female too despite me thinking she was a he. Found the egg to the left, the very spotty green egg. That lets me know that Coco and Rex.JR are the pair that produced the silver tux while Speckles and Rex produced the cinnamon who was the first to lay.

Cool! I don't know like anything about quails I own six chickens lol sounds like a cool pet though!
