Finally! I'm building my dream coop!

I use 2x4s but I have big birds with big feet. As stated they like wider flat bars so they can squat and cover their feet without having to balance on round bars. Round bars they can't cover their entire feet in cold weather.

I used 1.25" dowels, what would be a better size?
2x2s, 2x3s, branches with a diameter of roughly 2" or more, etc. Birds aren't nearly as picky as people think, so anything that's not slippery and wide enough for them to sit on where their toes aren't completely wrapping around, should do fine.

Woot! I finished!! Took 2 wks and $500, but it's done! As for the roosts, I'll keep in mind what has been suggested. For now my girl Red has started using them and seems comfy so not going to mess with them atm.

Got my new feeder and water installed. Red figured out the waterer fairly quickly, I hope she take to the new style feeder.

I've seen people wrap round bars in natural rope. Might be easier/cheaper for ya instead of replacing lumber.
