Get! A! Dog! (but only if you can handle the responsibility and the whole family is on board and you've thought it through and can afford it)

I wish I could, but I nobody else in the family want a pet dog (and I have two cats in the house), and if I get an LGD, it'll be in a few years

I would say Ice cream or sea creature, but then you’d have two navy blue and you may want to mix up his wardrobe a bit more. The plad would be a nice fall/Christmas one, but the orange would be a nice summer time.

Haven't found a perfect breed, but something easy to train, bred for guarding, loyal and alert, friendly, but also not five thousand dollars (also something that won't kill chickens because that's what they'll be guarding)

Won't kill chickens is trained, not bred. (case in point- my friends have a german shorthaired pointer, a bird hunting dog, that doesn't touch their chickens)
