I hope you get the rest of your animals out safe. And didnt have to much of a loss.. I sure hope your property and home come away untouched.
Can some one please let me know where this fire is. I have family in Washington.. And I have a friend up there. I have called her for the last two day and left messages and have not heard any thing back from here..
I hope all that is being effected by this fire is safe..
The article that Heather linked too gives road names and areas that are evacuated, but, unless you're very familiar with the Okanogan country, it might not mean anything to you.
The area affected is about a two hour drive (or less depending on how you drive
) north of the Wenatchee area. Or, if you prefer, the North Central Columbia Basin area. Or, about an hour and a half south of the Canadian border. If you were coming from Seattle, I think it's about a 4 hour drive east and then north as soon as you clear the Cascade mountains.
Does that help you? Hope that anyone you know in Washington State are well clear of this one. It sounds very bad from what we've heard on the news. I'm about a 2+ hour drive south east of Heather myself, near Spokane. We can see the smoke all this way east from that fire! It's making for some spectacular sunsets, but I just hate knowing the reason for it no matter how pretty it is.
Keep safe Heather. Post an update whenever you can.
I had a long weekend .long story short, the girl that we had arranged to watch our house couldnt (called last minute) so we stayed home. Lucky we did. Our house is still standing but it came really close. In the photos you can see the mangled remains of the dog kennel (left of the fireman in the yellow shirt) and on the left of the tree, the box was the dog house. All of the horses, cats, dog (Cash was home, Brodees still in Yakima) and all of the poultry made it out.
Im completely exhausted, havent slept since Thursday night and I think I lost 10 pounds in 2 days
We're home for now but not sure how long that will last...the horses are still down the road a few miles, the chickens are in cag es in my horse trailer and now that we have power back, the sprinklers are running.
