Firing my regular seasonal bug sprayer guy, what are some organic alternatives to chemical pest control?

I probably should have let him go LONG before now or after we got ducks….. But after last months spray treatment when they accidentally locked my poor cat in a basement closet (who then was missing for three days until we luckily found him); I’ve decided it’s the last straw.

I’m gonna start killing my own bugs from now on.

For reference - we live on 2 cleared acres of a heavily wooded mountain thats covered in all kinds of strange species of incests and wildlife alike. We mainly only used a pest service seasonally to keep spiders and other gross creepy crawlies out of the house, but with all the duck experiment and no regular pesticide upkeep… Things are getting pretty rough outside along the tree lines and even worse closer to the house, especially around our outdoor hot tub/seating areas/balconies and patios. As you can imagine those social places are also where my duck likes to hang out and be around us. And you can’t love the duck without loving the poop. But the poop is bringing lots of bugs!!

What are some good Safeway ways to manage these past problems? Open to all around upkeep options as well as any targeted solutions you all may have to offer….thanks!

I used neem oil when I had to spray down my coop for mites many years ago. I used a garden pump sprayer and mixed the neem according to the direction with hot water. Since neem is an oil the hot water helps to mix then just shake the sprayer a few times while using it. here is some info

🤔 I wonder if neem oil would help the duckling with scaly beak??

I wonder why your ducks (and chickens, if you have them) aren't eating them?
