First attempt at incubating

Did you lockdown on day 25? I think that's pretty standard; last time I actually did day 22 bc of Miss Early Pipper.
So - assuming you candled before lockdown, you would have noted any internal pips. - those would be your hatchers from last night and today. Assuming today is day #26, you may have some quitters or you may have some just taking their time or malpositioned.
Don't open up yet. If this is day #26, those born last night can stay in there for quite awhile yet; they're fine until the pros jump in here and guide you in for the landing. 😉 at some point yes, you may have to intercede, but not yet.
Oh, and thanks for the congrats. I don't think these belong to who I thought they did, bc they are soooo big already. Which means my jumbo had 2 nests going, bc she's brooding over 18 eggs right now. 🤔
Thanks for the info. I have 9 hatched now, waiting on 8. One has its beak sticking out. If it doesn't progress should I help this one? I'm please with their progress so far! They are all pied which surprises me because we have a few different colors.

You have jumbo guineas? How much bigger are they than regular ones.

Re jumbos vs standard - I think it's a difference of a pound. I don't notice a difference when carrying them but side by side the jumbo is a bit longer and taller. Here's a pic of my jumbo and royal purple cocks. 20200819_150623.jpg

Oh wow, beautiful! You can carry them?! Mine never get close enough.

Here is a pic. The beak is moving. And another pic for fun.
Ok, so he's in the right spot.
"After the chick has made a hole in the shell, it stops for 3-8 hours to rest & acclimate it's lungs. Then 2nd stage begins, the chick turns slowly inside the egg,the cutting edge of the egg tooth chips away. In 2-5 hours, the chick has made about 3/4 of a turn inside the egg, begins pushing on the egg cap (large end) for about 40 minutes before breaking free."

We did it! 14/17 hatched. I am attaching some pics. I am figuring most are pied pearls, but could a few possibly be royal purple? I'm not sure if they have enough white on their wings. Thanks again for everyone's help!
They look Pied Pearl to me. Royal Purple will have squiggly head lines. They all look to have solid center stripes on their heads meaning they are some form of Pearl Gray.

So these little guys are 2 weeks old. I have them in a brooder in our attached garage. This is the 4th batch I've started this way. Typically the keets are LOUD. Like we can hear them in the house, all hours of the day loud. This group is very quiet. Rarely make the loud cheeping sound the other groups have made. Is this common with incubated keets? Although I assume the ones we bought from hatcheries were incubated.

Man! I've got the right combo, just aren't getting those eggs I guess. My other, half went to a cousin and half went to my dad. All doing well. My dad's think they are chickens. One of his hens took to them when he integrated them, and they follow her around. It's adorable!!!

Cute. What’s your combo that you expect to give you royal purples?
