Well, I don't get the eggs until Friday, but I'm so excited over my very very first batch of duck eggs that I'm making the thread now! 😄

I'm purchasing 4 white, 4 magpie, and 4 black indie call ducks from a local vet who seems very passionate about their birds! I already have the incubator warming up so that it's nice and steady when the eggs get here.

Follow the thread for a fun hatch-a-long!

So exciting! Will these be your first call ducks? You’re going to love them! They have wonderful and unique personalities. Hope you have a good hatch! :clap
Thank you! Yes my first Call Ducks so I am very nervous and cautiously thrilled with the possibility of these absolutely precious ducklings. I've been reading up and studying on incubating Call Ducks for a while now, but there's a lot to learn. My other ducks are much larger. I currently have 2 Pekins, a Buff Orpington and a Cayuga. They're almost 2 years old. So this will be a brand new experience

No problem! So exciting. I just finished my latest call duck hatch a couple of days ago. I ended up assisting all of them (over 10) which was stressful but well worth it in the end. There definitely is a lot to learn but once to get the hang of it, it’s not too bad. I usually wait till they’re internally pipped then rather early (because I didn’t want them to suffocate) I’d add the safety hole. I usually added it roughly 16-18 hours after internal pip. From there about 24 hours later I open the area over the air cell and slowly assist to the point that they can get out on their own. I’m not sure if it would be helpful but in my thread “preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs hatch day should be March 4 2021 if all goes well”, I got some great advice on assisting and posted some pictures of assisting progress of the call ducklings.

So fun! I’m so excited for you! I just got done with my call duck hatch. Although it was a lot of work it was definitely worth it! They are so adorable! The Magpie ones are gorgeous! I’ll definitely be following along!
