ChickenTater
Chirping
Hi everyone! My buff orpington just laid her first egg today! However, I noticed that there was a tiny bit (less than a drop) of- or what looked like -blood on the egg. I checked her vent and didn't notice any redness or blood. I also checked all the rest of my chickens (I have 4 other hens aside from my buff, and I wanted to be sure it didn't come from one of them) but didn't notice any blood or redness either.
I just incorporated laying feed less than a week ago with their chick starter feed. They're 5 months old, hatched the 8th or 9th of March 2017. Their poop looks normal, a little runny, but that happens a couple times a month I've noticed. I give them DE once a month and provide them fresh water every day.
There was one thing I noticed as well- one of my leghorns is already laying and her first dozen were peewee eggs. My buffs first egg was almost the same size as my large fake egg. Do you think I should be concerned that she might have a prolapsed vent, or am I just being paranoid and it's just from a big first egg?
If anyone needs pictures I will try to get some! (photographing a chickens butt with just one set of hands is difficult but I WILL DO MY BEST)
