First Egg Countdown

I have an egg! I went to check food and water and the covered litter pan I put in as a nest box when I got home from work...and thought "huh...someone's been in the nest box". The bedding was trampled down and such...I looked all the way in and found the most adorable, prettiest soft turquoise egg I have ever seen! I bet Bunny (Easter Egger) is the culprit, since she has been squatting. her sister Dusty has become super red in the face so I think she'll be close behind YAY!!!

It is a bit darker than this pic...I just can't get a good photo of it's true color. Kind of a shade or two darker...soft blue-green...I am taking it to work tomorrow to show it off LOL!!!

I wish I had an EE. I'll only have brown egg layers from my Red Stars and Cochins...that is, if they ever start laying!

Still no eggs for me my girls are really being stubborn. So much for my early sex link layers. Haha anyhow. Kids came running into the house this evening saying the chickens were singing the egg song. I went out and no eggs so hopefully tomorrow.

I have 16 pullets that came from Ideal Poultry on Feb. 22. One started to lay this week. 16 weeks old.

Oh my gosh...I just realised this is how "chicken math" gets started. It's ooohhh I want one of those they lay pretty blue eggs and ooohhh now I want one of those they lay pretty green eggs and then it's.........until you have 500 chickens right? But there's a thread for that and maybe even a therapist as well!
