First Egg Countdown

How old are they? They look a lot like mine and they will be 25 weeks this week. I'm still waiting.

Mine are 17 weeks going on 18 this Thursday...sort of thinking they are holding on because o threaten them with chicken soup so they are calling my bluff I think... Lol. How long has yours been like that??? Number 2 princess ( cause all she does is whine for the last week) has been like that for about a week and a half

Today was the first day I uncovered our nest boxes. Our four oldest birds (RIR, BA, 2x LS) are nearly 15 weeks old. Optimistic I know, but I did the 'pelvic test' yesterday, three are at 1.5 fingers width and one (RIR) is almost at two fingers width.

Opened three nests with some hay and a false egg in it, the RIR has already been in for a look around. Fingers crossed another week or two (famous last words I know) and we get our first egg, from a chicken we hatched our selves at home!

I'm feeling disappointed in the fact that I'm waiting so long!

I keep thinking that I am doing something wrong with them and they are unhappy with me, so they are holding out. I'm sure it will eventually happen, right????????

I had a special surprise yesterday!!! Four eggs!!! Three small and one larger!! They are 19 weeks today. I know my two white leghorns where the first to lay!! Tonight I had to fix my 5 year grandson his first (real egg) as he calls it!! And low and behold it was a double yoke!! He thought that was the coolest thing. He has been with the chicks since we picked them up from the post office!! Wo we!!! Finally some eggs!!!:D

Yay !! Congrats on your eggs..

Ok I have to ask... The girls that I posted before should I be looking for eggs ??? It's winter here and they are 17 weeks, 18 Thursday ??? Or should I not worry for a few more weeks

mine started laying at 19 and 22 weeks and if its winter I wouldnt worry "usually" they need 10 hours or more of day light, but since they are red crosses prob not, dont worry

I have 6 BA pullets that are 16 weeks old and 2 EE's that are 16 wks and one BL that is 16 wks. I opened up the coop and tried to let them in it yesterday to show them the nesting boxes but they won't come in the coop yet. lol they got to used to the run and I don't know when they will go into the coop? lol I hope to get some eggs soon!

They will probably start laying within the next 2 weeks. No need to worry.
