First egg, now what?

Hey guys! I'm super excited. One of my girls laid her first egg and she laid it in the nesting box so I feel like I'm winning. My question is what to do with the egg. Do I leave it so the other girls see that's where they should lay? Do I take it and put a golf ball or fake egg in it's place? I appreciate any advice, I'm a newbie chicken momma. Thanks!!

If this is your first time with a farm fresh egg ... EAT that egg! Soft boiled!

Don't stress if they don't lay another right away ... was a solid week after our first egg before there was a second ... after that, the hens started laying regular.

Eat and enjoy. If you want to bait the nest(s) then, yes, use something other than real eggs.
