Was the egg very warm like a 'just laid' egg would be?
Could have been there for a while.
I imagine they can slip out pretty easy, as small as they are.

It was on top of the feed that had just spilled over, so it had to happen while we were standing there. I figured that whoever laid it didn't even know. Probably thought they pooped.
