First ever hatch!

The room you have your Bator in should be the same as the inside as the inside of you Bator or warmer I learned this the hard way.....

This is a 17 year old incubator and it still works ,,, now in the upper left hand corner now that measures the humidity as my eyes can not see them little numbers anymore and it will also remove some of the moisture if it is over the prescribed setting ,,,, to the right is and artificial egg thermometer both I purchased from e-bay just makes it easer to see the numbers and really accurate ........

Alright this is the inside of the incubator and yes I took these photos just about an hour ago now most of the egg's are guinea egg's and need 28 days and a temp of 100 F degrees ..... now on to the equipment the egg in the center with the T for top is the thermometer and the egg's do come in different sizes depending on the egg you are hatching the other two wires are for the dehumidifier so the wire with the plastic block and the other wire detect the temp and humidity and together I can see at a distance what is going on in the incubator .......

I believe Santa takes care of those who are very nice to others around them ......

Wow 17 years old and still runs well? That's awesome! I like how big the viewing window is on your bator. I just have the two little windows. What are those circles marked on your eggs? Also, I didn't realize there was something to remove the excess moisture. That sounds like it would really come in handy. I accidentally got my humidity way too high but luckily the bator sat for a few days before it was time for the eggs and it's now down to 46

I think that's why I had such a low hatch rate first time around. Too much opening and closing of the incubator and big fluctuation of temps and humidity. This time around I have a huge blanket to put over me and the bator when I open and close for turning. I will just be more frequently " Under Cover" this time around. I'm not sure how you adjust the humidity in your new incubator...mine is adjusted by placing sponges adding water to sponges...or removing sponges.

That was the only model I have ever seen with the solid window and G.Q.F. dose not make the fan for this model anymore so I had to clean my fan out several months ago as it was built up with dust and junk but it went right back to working like a champ so I think I will use caned air on the fan every month to keep it clean ......

The circles on the egg's are drawn on the egg when I candle at days 7, 14, 18 so I can measure the growing air sack and it's placement and if you look some ore on the side as I took them from my guinea hen's nest and they did get to sit a bit otherwise they would be on top of the egg shell ....

I put an X on one side and an O on the other and the date the egg went into the incubator then candle and mark on the prescribed days as you need to keep some kind of record of what you are doing .....

The dehumidifier I have is not what I was looking for I wanted one that would add or remove the humidify as needed but this all that was available on e-bay and could not find anything close to what I wanted .... But this works ......

I've got an incubator with auto egg turner...pre-set temp with high/low alarms...humidity stabilizer...pipping notifier...and built in music box that plays a "lullaby" with each new hatch...on my WISH LIST. LOL!

The room I have my bator and brooder in (spare bedroom) is 86 degrees...bator set at 102...aaaand...eggs just placed. Are you loading your incubator julianahouk?

Yes a blanket over both of you is a great idea to keep down on the drafts ......

If you look to the back of the incubator there is a hand towel that I can take out and wash every few days and there is another one in the front of the bator so if the alarm goes off and it is very soft but I just take it out and get wet with warm of hot water and if the heat is high then I use cold water and on very hot days I have had to put a couple of little chunks of ice in and it really wont take much and it will get back down .......

Yep I got em in right at 8 o' clock! I feel like time was going by so slowly today just waiting to set them, I don't know how I'm gonna last 21 whole days! What is this magical incubator of which you speak? That might have to go on my Christmas list! The blanket is a good idea, I think that's what I'll have to do too. I have the bator setting on the desk in the kitchen, the temperature throughout the house fluctuates between 75 and 80 degrees but the temperature in the bator has really stayed consistent. How did you get the room so warm?

You really do have a good set up. It's pretty cool that just the temperature of the towel can help stabilize the incubator. That's a really good idea. Sounds like you know what you're doing, how long have you been in the hobby?
