First hatch in Brinsea DONE! See Stats and Final Pic!

The little Mille Fleur D'uccle, that I have devoted six weeks of my life waiting for, has quite an attitude.

I am hoping his right foot straightens out a bit. I think it just might be curved from being in the shell. If it's not better by morning I'll cull him.

Gotcha!

My first hatch in the Brinsea is over! On Nov. 12th I set 33 eggs, 27 of which were shipped. At one week I candled. Three were tossed and six were questionable. Several more were discarded before lockdown. At lockdown 18 eggs were viable, 15 shipped, 3 from my flock. Hatch is complete with one shipped Lt Brahma quitting before pipping. I opened it and could find nothing wrong, just a HUGE chick and a little airsack.

So here's my stats.

Shipped eggs arrived unbroken: 27/30 (81%)

Shipped eggs making it to hatch: 14/30 (51%)

Eggs from my flock making it to hatch: 3/3 (100%)

Finally getting a MIlle Fleur D'uccle: PRICELESS!

Thanks for following my saga. I am ready to go again with all MFD's!

Note: At lockdown I moved the eggs from the Brinsea into the Hovabator with fan.

Here's the first and last picture of the whole group. The Lt. Brahmas and OEG's are sold and being picked up this afternoon.
