First Hatch of 08!!!!

the regs have been holding steady all of incubation so i'm not woried to open it as long as it is quick and not more than nessasary. it looks like we should have about 4 by morning i hope. since it looked like more piped i'm not rechecking till morning again just to be safe since it looks like progress.

we thought about going to lowes and getting plexie glass to put in a window or change the whole door to plexie glass. someone told us they thought they made door to sell for them seperately. i don't know. hey i forgot i pics of the one sportsman i'll get them off my photobucket.

gotta get that webcam idea happening for next time.
last I read about hatching was the new babies give off heat and moisture....and after a couple are hatched it was ok to open it.....but it's all so nerve wracking!
did you notice the moisture and heat increase with your other bators?

i'm a mom to 5 kid's and many animals,lol. i worry weather it's a hen laying, me shipping eggs, getting eggs shipped in, hatching and broody raiseing till i know all is ok. it's in my nature i'm a mom to so many they all make me worry, rotfl.

yes that's true. yep and those ya pull the plugs out but this don't have plugs to vent. dh said the fan pumps in the air so no worries but gees how they supost to breath in a wooden box??? i noticed the humidity was up a little and i could still her peeps every so ofter that's why i checked. it's hard to tell though i have brooder babies that chirp and younsters that sing and they are not to far from the bators.

hey I have 5 kids too....only 2 still at home oldest daughter is 37 omG then son 35 then daughter 24 then two youngest boys 16&17 and now my daughter has 2 sons almost 3 and 7 months......more to worry over!!! it never ends and I thought I needed chicks? rofl
How many eggs are incubating?
I'm all excited now I think at hatching a woman should have a friend over to take shifts.....nahhhh then both be up all night!

i have 2 of the sportsmans this one and the one on the right the yellow thing beside it. all the 100+ eggs are in the yellow one with serama eggs in it's hatcher. it's the newer one. the brown one has silkies, showgirls and more silkies in it's hatcher. they both look similar inside but yet different and it has a bucket of water on top that runs in with a valve to refill the water so i don't have to it auto does it when the ball drops i believe. similar to how the back of a toilet fills back up,lol.

this one is the older one.

inside top, water goes in bucket fan is in back and waffers on side.

inside there is 3 shelves on the turner it auto turns and each shelf has 2 white racks to hold eggs.

this is the hatcher in the bottom with it's lid. we put cloth down so the eggs don't roll and make a mess so bad this is where the ones now are pipping in. the top is empty.

well since mine are in the hatcher too from my birds i think there is 25 in the hatcher now. i lost count at 103 eggs so i can't remember now how many are in,lol. i still have 6+ of showgirls i bought comeing yet to give me another bloodline plus my 6 from the swap here i don't know what they are so hopefully we figure this bator thing out for these new ones we'll have lots of babies soon.

that is to kool i only know one person who has 5 also! i have 4 boys and a girl my girl will be 4 in march the day before easter and 4 days before i turn 31. my oldest will be 12 on sun. then my other boys are 7, 9 and 5. usually mike watches hatches with me and keeps me company but he fell asleep watching a movie so i figured he could get up early with the kids since i can't sleep,lol.

only 15 where to hatch today and 10 tomarrow. the hatches are speratic over 3 weeks,lol. i don't think i could handle all that peeping at once, rotfl although i've done it with quails but never again. where are u getting silkies from?

awww nice hubby! I have one too.....I told him I ordered 40 chicks and his eyes got real big....next morning he said I can't believe you ordered 40 chicks.....but he was ok with it...and my buying the old trailer for a coop....so today I told him 40 was a mistake 15 of those was another ladies order in with mine and I had changed my order to more specific breeds now...so now only 22 birds...he says oh that's better....but then I had to tell him the BBB turkeys I ordered only came in orders of 20 rofl... I have tears in my eyes I'm laughing so hard right now.....

oh gosh that sure was a laugh. i went to my parner breeders house to get some peeps from her OMG!! rotfl she said bring lots of boxes well i didn't know how many she had and her dh said they had to many so i went to save her bum and she ended up sending me home with 50 i kid u not 50 showgirls and silkies. i cringed the whole way home thought mike was gonna kill me for sure,lol. we get home i said ummm ok lets here it ya know what he tells me... i claim this one and that one oh and that one. i busted out laughing i didn't get killed he stole my best chooks,lol. i said yep ur a keeper alright any other man i've ever dated or married would of made me walk home and said nope no way.
