First hatch - varied Breeds!

Glad to hear most had awesome air cells when you candeled on Monday and that you still have 15 eggs going :thumbsup
Wow I didn't know they can hatch 10 days after day 21! Would have never thought that - good to know!
Awesome the repaired Cream Legbar egg and the Gold Deathlayer with the air cell repair are still part of the team!
I hope they will all make it ❤️ ...But I know your lucky number would be a great hatch rate.
I hope all the cute names you are considering will be used!

😅Here perhaps some possible french names: Croissant and Baguette, Elodie and Solange, Matisse and Braques

Thank you for the update! So exciting! I'm keeping my fingers croosed :fl

3 are Pipped - the Gold Deathlayer i thought would be #1- from development, a Cream Legbar and a Basque Chick are sipping yolk, napping and using their lungs for the first time.

I woke in a dream of Volcanoes erupting...i was with several Journalists, and we knew we had to get moving! When my eyes opened I realized I might have news. You bet i do! A fourth looks like it is trying to pip. Yahoo. Hope they make it. Tomorrow will be an exciting day!

4 Pipping now and some making their holes larger! Pecking skills at work! Mosaic, Cream Legbar, Basque and Gold Deathlayer, so far. Awesome Breeds for trading with a Breeder I think, if any are Males. I think the CL is the only one whose Gender may be clear at hatch.

OMG between midnight and 4:45 pm - Day 20 - EIGHT of the likely well developed have pipped! 2 while i was visiting with them the past half hour! 2 Mosaics, 2 Basques - in the lead for eager breeds, i think. It's so spooky not seeing movement - then suddenly a pip...then 3, 4, 6 then 8! BIG OL CRACK from a mighty Mosaic whack on number 8 - while I was talking next to them! No action from my Isbar Embryos yet. One of them will be Izzy if they make it outta the shell and survive. Whew!

Great day...and it ain't over!

3-4 looked less developed - I'll try to figure out if any who pipped were among the long-shot committee. Still have Egg-topsies to perform on 3 removed earlier, to confirm 1 Infertile, 2 early Quitter guesses. Hope the material inside holds up for a good look. Thought I'd do them all together in bright outdoor light after the hatch...and candling/possible float of those we tucked back it but possible Quitters. Life is a big ol science project! A 2nd grader in the house said she wants to be a Vet, so I'm explaining stuff as we go along that I learn. Audra has come up with some good names...and was a great Assistant Poop Scooper last spring.

No Pips or movement yet!

Candled Monday, day 17 when I had help, since i still have a bone healing and very limited use of my left hand for awhile. Most had awesome air cells and dark masses were large,

Removed 1 more Quitter, that's 3 total of the orig 18 shipped from N Idaho to my Portland, Oregon neighborhood. I ordered a dozen. We let 3 or 4 who seemed only partly developed remain in case they are still viable...but seems a long shot. I read someone saying they had one hatch TEN DAYS after day 21! It is rather nerve racking to not be able to see inside the colored eggs...and have to pull several of the light ones. Incubating on some basics that seem in order - wonder and hope. It really is easier to order Day Old Chicks!

Woke at 3 AM - to check humidity and stare at motionless eggs, LOL. Keeping humidity in the 60's, tho i overdid it and it spiked on pre-lockdown day 17 to 90 before gradually dropping to the 50's for that day. Our climate is humid - and the fan constantly running in the smallish incubator, so the first couple weeks i had it range from a low of 28 on some mornings to upper 50's some times...but mostly in the 40's after learning more about air cell development.

Hope they are still developing ok - with such a variety of breeds - i don't know if all can be as resilient as required to remain viable - especially the Cream Legbar i smunched then repaired. How it made it so far already seems a small miracle!

A few names we are considering...and at most i think we may need 8-10. My lucky number is eleven, but that is a LOT to ask. Will feel thankful to get 3 or 4 future layers of these awesome breeds. Any Roos may be valuable to someone for breeding - as the Purebreds are Greenfire line sourced - by FoxfireFarms. (I also asked for anything laced and Olive Eggers)

Number One - for the first to hatch - hopefully the Gold Deathlayer - who had a detached air cell repair and looked great at subsequent candlings! Might become my #1 layer by July!

BOBO - for a Spitzenhauben or silly looking chick if we get one.

Speester - for the 2nd grader's giggles - named for one of her dolls with huge eyes. Maybe a Cream Legbar. Not sure what breed deserves this name LOL - Audra will pick!

Rudy and Judy? if our Silverud's hatch. (Isbar)

Mose or Mosey - if our Mosaics make it

Need something french for possible Basque hens.

Blue - and Copper ? for 2 possible Maran's Chicks

Lacey - for a laced Orpington -

Dottie - for my first Wyandotte...tho a more independent name may be a better fit. May be naughty Dottie, LOL.
