First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I hope you get them to  breed!   They look good, how old are they?

I believe they are 22 weeks. Pullets should start laying when the daylight hours are right. I will put them in with my Dark Cornish after their quarantine. The cockerels will be tried with my white 3/4 Dark Cornish. They are heavy boyz.

How fast do Jersey Giants grow?   I could mix them into the next round of toads if these "shrink"  I am worried about that because the pullets eggs are a lot smaller than Bertha's eggs.

They are slow Ralph. They grow the frame then put on weght

Bad news, I made an error, it was a Dominique egg and not a toad egg that pipped..

and I have a Speckled Sussex baby!

was it a worthwhile cross?

for me, no. They take too long to put on weight. Part of my problem was hatchery stock. The Saipan crosses gave me more leg and thigh and seemed to have more hybrid vigor. And once again the best looking crosses were the ones with the barred rocks.

To date the best "broiler" crosses I've had have all been barred rocks. They have the finished look,just not on the scale of a CX.
