My chicks are constantly getting poop stuck to their butts  . Is there anything I can do. Also they only seem to eat when I throw the food on the floor.my chicks will just peck it of lol

one of the ones I got from tsc had pasty butt for a couple of days. I washed it under warm running water until clean dried thoroughly and put Vaseline on to prevent more poop sticking. It stopped after about 2 washes.

If they have pasty butt, keep a close eye on them and keep it cleaned off and their vents cleaned. Some people advise a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (w/pulp) in the water to help clear up pasty butt.

it doesn't look like any of the other pips, it looks more like a poke. I will keep the humidity up and hope for the best. This is pretty scary. The 3 that have hatched are racing around and I have a 4th that has pipped and has a good sized hole. So I don't want to open up yet to get the rowdies out.

You should only do what's comfortable for you, but if you feel the need to pull them to go in the brooder and your humidity is up around 70% ish, there shouldn't be a problem. I remove my chicks as they hatch and get active. I just keep my humidity at 75% during hatch. I have no problems what so ever.

Just so you know, when you have that much membrane exposed, over a long period of time it's possible for it to start drying and turning color even if you have your humidity up there. So if it does, don't think that it was anything you did, just pull it moisten it and unstick any membrane that may be stuck to the chick. I also wrap a damp paper towel around the backside of the egg in instances where I have a lot of exposed membrane (such as during an assist or after I have checked a chick that has stalled for over 18 hours.)

This is most likely from a bowling tournament that's going on in there wait it out a bit longer . Amy will tell you what to do . I don't to mean back pat or make her head any bigger but she's soooo good with hatch assists.

Thanks guys. I am going to wait until the 4th one that has pipped hatches. Take out the dry ones. Give it a quick once over and wrap in moist paper towel add h20 to trays and wait.
