First Time Egg Candler Scared!

Update. My hatch is finished 5/7 made it. one baby was injured prior to hatch and another was a late quitter, probably day 18/19. I have learned that my temperature was approximately .5 degrees lower than the digital readout on the incubator. I am fairly happy with the result for my first experience. Many thanks to all of you for your assistance. I will know what to expect next time. Thinking I might like to try a few turkey eggs. There is a hatchery about 25 miles up the road. What am I saying I haven't even finished drying the last 2 littluns yet!

so the bowling didn't make it so sad but 5 out 7 not bad

Should I be concerned about this bent toe? I noticed it the second he was born (took 2 hrs to zip) but then it seemed to get better. But holding him to tonight, I noticed it's pretty pronounced.

You could put a sandal on it. I noticed yesterday one of my 7 week olds has a crooked toe like that. I had never noticed it before. Doesn't seem to bother it, but now that I know it bothers me...lol

Exactly! He's fine with it but I just want to do the best possible for him. I really think he's a boy btw, even though I don't know for sure! Should I just goggle "how to make a sandal for chick"? Thank you!

Saw this the other day on another thread. I have a couple of my 8-week hens with funky toes, but I guess its too late to fix them. Hadn't notice before. But I would do this while they are a baby to not have to worry about it later.
