So excited for you!I've checked my temperature with calibrated thermometers and the incubator is reading and holding correctly.
I have to calibrate the separate hygrometer tonight to check that. I'm intending to choose and set the eggs after work.![]()
Are the darker ones from your Marans? The lighter are the Australorps, right?
It will be so exciting to see the variety of chick colors with such an assortment! Curious to see how much more difficult it is (if at all) when candling the dark eggs. Please share as you do!The dark ones and the heavily-speckled ones are from my Marans. The others are unidentifiable, mostly Orpington x Wyandotte crosses and a Dominique. The faintly purplish ones might be the Black Langshan. The slightly brower ones might be the Silver-Laced Cochin. There *could* be Australorp eggs in there because the hens are coming back into lay and the pullets are just reaching Point-of-Lay but I haven't positively ID's any of them.
Until I tried to sort them I didn't realize how similar all the eggs had gotten with the 2021 flocks' new layer kinks worked out of them.
