Hi all!
Hope I can still join although quite late!

I’ve recently joined the forum because I always wanted to try and hatch eggs and now we finally have a small garden so I decided to hatch few chicks for Easter. I got some silkie eggs sent from Germany (I am Finnish but live in the Netherlands). They were not shipped but brought by car by a German guy who’s wife was selling the eggs and he works here so he brought them to me.
The first batch was 8 eggs but after 7 days none had any life in them. She sent me another 7 eggs, one had a crack, 5 were unfertilized but luckily one started developing
Today is day 17 and time for a lockdown I have read, I just want to check a bit later one more time if there is still movement inside and then it’s fingers crossed this baby makes it

So far I have 12 chicks hatched out of 13 eggs. The holdout is lagging but stil alive. Went to candle it as there’s no pip, and it yelled at me.

I you only have one baby hatch, make sure to get at least one other chick for him from a feed store. Chicks don't do well alone, but hopefully you have farm store, or TSC near you that has chicks?

I candled two eggs just now, and am so excited!
I saw spidering views in both, and couldn't find the air cell but could see the embryos eye! I'm so exited! I'm going to candle the rest and hope they are all developing well! Heres a bad picture of one, hahaha!-

The other egg I candled had more veins that you could see clearly. I will post a picture of that when I can air drop it to my computer. I'm so excited!
