i'll keep mine crossed with you, all of my eggs were shipped

woke up to one chick and three pips

great news if the humidity wasn't in the mid-fifties, crap

i had woken up the two previous nights to monitor the humidity and it hadn't dropped so i didn't get up last night. regretting that now.

hoping my babies will make it despite their mother.

went home at lunch and found one more had hatched, and one zipped, while i was standing there, she hatched.

there were a total of eight pipped eggs when i left.

so of the twenty-one that went to lockdown i have three chicks, eight pips and ten other eggs with no progress so far.

one of those eggs i didn't think was going to do anything but decided to leave it in with the others, and one other has a crack in it that has scotch tape on it.

Hey guys!! Its great to hear about all the pips, zipping and peeping going on. Been super busy around here lately, why is it that work and family issues always come up at the same time.

Anyway. I have 18 Dorking eggs in the incubator with about a week to go.

I have had some issues with the incubator being to cold. I was also out of town for about a week and the person I had housesitting didn't feel comfortable turning the heat up. Instead she put a couple of towels over the incubator the try and keep the temps up, it seemed to work somewhat. I think the temp problem has stemmed from not keeping the wood fireplace roaring all the time. But 12/18 developing shipped eggs is not that bad, they were even lost in the mail for 3 extra days.

My broody also has eggs under her. She started with 12 and I checked her today and there is only 8

I guess she ate the others or something. One also has a crack in it. I pulled that egg out and put it in the incubator for now. But the broody eggs are going to hatch 2 days before the others, so that would mess up lockdown. So I am looking up ways to fix the crack, and give it back to the broody. I think I remember something about wax or tape. I am off to do some research on BYC.

Happy Hatching!!!

And congrats to all on the new babies.
