First time incubating: how do they look so far?

Im going to move the bator to the only room in the house that does not have a heater vent, going to spend the next week setting up and taking my time. Watching temperatures, room gets cold at night but its cold at night in a coop too. So I will probably set again next friday. Calibrating my hygros now. Opened last three and they looked shrink wrapped must not of had enough humidity

Sounds like a good plan. What day did you finally open those last 3? I opened mine on day 24 and they were shrinkwrapped, but I don't think the membrane shrunk until day 23-24 because I could still see movement the day before. Just curious when was the last time you had candled them and what they looked like then.

Last day I candled was 18th before lockdown, they were all moving and everything. Water candled last three last night no movement, candled this morning and realised they were goners all 3 appeared to be shrinkwrapped

Oh that's good to hear duckchick!
Can't wait to get home and see what's waiting for me :)
LG's are tough newbie.. I'm done using one as soon as I can move chicks into a brooder. Then I'm pulling my LF eggs and they'll finish in the hova bator.

Ive got nothing but time and patience lol. Ill get it figured out eventually I dont mind doing several different batches a year as long as I get 12 new hens a year im fine with that.

That's awesome. I'm jealous! I wish I could devote more time to tinkering with the LG. I should have taken pics of the contraptions I used to get the humidity up without opening it. Bendy straws attached to syringes, paper towels, little dishes.. ect. Good thing I only had 6 eggs in there..I didn't have room for anymore.

I just used a baby medicine syringe it fits perfect through the top little holes I filled all the wells then put folded paper towels in each corner to catch the water I put in

Good activity going on here! I love it.

I also used bendy straws, several linked together, and a little baby bulb syringe to suction water out or feed water in. This last time, I didn't have as much trouble. Was able to just use a small bottle with a pointed tip, like the kind you get in a hair coloring kit (?) that's what it reminded me of. It came with my bator.

Lets see some pics of these sweet babies!!

Holy crap! I came home to 25 chicks!
There are more pipped too.. very exciting :)
