First time incubating: how do they look so far?

The first one is going to be Pyre, I almost tossed him on day 7 thought it was a blood ring but turns out it wasnt :D
When/how did you realize it wasn't a blood ring? Just wondering because on day 7 I thought there were 2 blood rings in mine (pretty sure actually) but I haven't tossed them yet! Congrats on your babies! Are the kids super excited? :)

You will realize its not a blood ring when the chick gets bigger in there. And when you have several to compare, the ones that stop will be more obvious as the others grow. I think sometimes good blood vessels can appear to be blood rings when there isn't much else in there to see.

Yea I had what I thought were two in this batch one was and one wasnt thats y I dont start pitching until day 14, you can really see them move then. 3rd one hasnt made it out yet, he can take as long as he wants as long as he is healthy. Kids watched the second onehatch right before school they were egg-static :p

Sorry to hear about your yolks not being absorbed newbie. Hopefully they'll be ok.
I came home to find a hatched chick..pips and zips all over the place. I have 2 completely out now and another almost completely zipped. I find it funny that the ones hatching early are all Cochin/D'uccle crosses. I do have a few pipped pure cochin eggs...but these crosses are FAST coming out. They were due Saturday. So far they look great. Humidity could be a little higher..but mid 60's seems to be fine for these little speedies.

Now there are 3!
