Well, Blue most likely has passed. When I checked on him, he was lying there completely frozen, his gills not moving one bit. I think I saw the faintest fin twice, but it could be my eyes playing tricks on me

lolMy irresponsible side talking: couldn't I hypothetically get away with keeping one male and two female endlers? Wouldn't the excess babies get eaten by their parents. Occasionally I would have to give some away, but...![]()

I rarely have to remove a dead fish from my aquariums, and can't recall the last time I had to do so. The shrimp and Kuhlis take care of demised tank mates, and I don't notice until I see a reduction in numbers. At one point I had about 12 Zebra danios and 7 Glowlight tetras. I'm down to 1 and 2, but they are about 6 years old.
Oh, I did notice some frenzied activity a couple months ago, the brown kuhlis were eating a dead snail. Bon Appetit!![]()
Awesome!!!Getting ready for the Ember tetras...ETA Thursday or Friday...
I removed all plants, decor, and shrimp from my 5.5g. It's going to be my quarantine tank:

The shrimp were released into the 15g, where their cousins, sisters, brothers have been living in harmony with the Chocolate Kuhlis. I'll move some back to the 5.5g after the quarantine.
The Java ferns were rinsed and trimmed before returning some to the tank.
The OTB prefilter was rinsed and returned.
The sponge filter and its air stone were rinsed and returned. I added a fresh bit of airline tubing to the air stone as it was no longer flexible.
Then I attached the sponge filter to a new dual port air pump (no cost, just have to review it!)

Looks good!

It'll be a little tight for 2 weeks and 20 tetras, but they're juveniles, and I can keep it clean with small daily water changes.
Blue was buried. Tank is a little cloudy today. I suspect that the excess bacteria that were breaking down the ammonia from Blue's body no longer have something to break down, so hence the clouded look. I have selected my plants. Now time for the fish. Celestial Pearl Danios, White cloud mountain minnows, chilli rasbora, endlers livebearers are the top choices right now. Although I find chilli rasbora gorgeous but boring
