Does anyone know anything about these trumpet like snails? I took out three dead fish just today and saw the snails looking like this. To me the pointy end looks dead.

Sadly my testers have expired and i cant afford new ones right now. Would calcium affect fish though?

Depends. How big is your aquarium, what fish do you have, what's your filtration system, how often do you change the water, how long has the aquarium been cycled, how long after it cycled did you add fish, what and how often do you feed them, and how many fish and inverts are in there?

If the water is soft, the calcium is low, and invertebrates die. I killed snails before I understood that. Their shells would crumble away. :hit

My water is very soft and acid. I use a buffer to keep the water closer to neutral, and have sea shells as decorations. In a matter of months the sea shells disintegrate from being chewed by snails and the low hardness of the water. I also add one drop of IODIDE (not iodine) per 10 gallons of water at water changes. It's made a tremendous difference, so I can have shrimp and snails in my tanks. You get iodide from marine/saltwater suppliers.
