I might just skip the betta idea for now and eventually maybe get a 5 -10 gal tank for a betta.

Sorry for all the question im getting lots of mixed answers when searching online

What about German Blue Rams?
Could i have a male to a few females plus add some shrimp? Or if i did a pair(or 2 females) what other fish could i do with the rams?

20 gallon tank stocking ideas?

Instead of a 10 im going to get a 20 gal.

I do want some shrimp at the bottom. Im still thinking about 2 bettas otherwise i know there are gouramis and many schooling fish. Im going to the store that im going to get the fish from so ill see what he has.
20 gallon long? You could have schooling or shoalling varieties. I love the tough but flashy Zebra danios.

I recently got 20 Ember tetras for my 29 gallon tank. They have matured and are a golden color, and look SO pretty swimming in groups close to the water's surface.

I got a 20 gallon tank!
There will be a 40 gallon sponge filter for the filteration.
The place im getting the fish from has a specific gravel they use to i will be getting that. Its not to big, but not as fine as sand. They have plants growing like crazy.
They only had 2 male bettas and i dont have a tank ready.
But they keep the females together when they have them. And they will order some in for me. Then they keep the males with guppies or dwarf gouramis and they all are really healthy. So im thinking of doing 2 female bettas, 2 gouramis or some male guppies(im still deciding) and some shrimp. If i dont do gouramis ill do another small fish.
Ill havr to update as i start the tank
I would NOT recommend putting gouramis with bettas. They can be aggressive towards each other since they're both labyrinth fish. Years ago I got a male Betta and a powder blue gourami for my tank. The betta harassed the gourami, flared its gills and swam at it. The gourami eventually died, stress related I am sure.

From what I understand, rams are spicy. I thing they're gorgeous enough and have enough personality to be in there by themselves

Don't know about shrimp. Adults might be safe, juveniles probably won't be

I was thinking about just doing a German Blue Ram tank. I like Bolivian rams to but they are larger.

And thanks!

I lost my large koi earlier this year so now I have 2 small koi and a shubunkin and comet goldfish. I also got a high-fin shark but I don’t expect to see him for awhile as they only grow 1 inch per year :th
