My DS wont drink our water . (city/rural) He said he dont want any female hormones in him.
I thought it was lead pipes the older houses used ?

I think really old pipes are lead. Those I definitely would rip out of my house. I think copper pipes are still in use even in new construction.

It's the matter of picking your evil I guess. Plastic pipes can leech stuff too depending on you minerals, and acidity.

So everyone should be using a reverse osmosis system for drinking water no matter where you live in my opinion. They aren't real expensive. All water should be run through some sort of filter for drinking and cooking, even those pitchers are better than nothing.

Our house is over 100 years old. All the plumbing has been changed out. It's a smaller house with a single basement, so it probably wasn't too difficult.

We have a drilled well too. Ours was/is contaminated with some stuff too. There use to be gas or oil floating on the surface straight out of the well. We have always filtered our water since we bought it back in 1997. A lot of rural wells have some type of contamination. Everyone in my opinion should be running their drinking water through a reverse osmosis, even in the city. They will remove lead as well.

Idk, the R.O. looks like it's complicated and seems to take up a lot of room. From looking at reviews, a lot of people think the slow return is a problem. On all of them.

they do it because the amount that's leached out isn't considered hazardous. Whether or not you have lead pipes...there's still going to be some metal involved somewhere in your plumbing system.
