Unfortunately I didn’t get to it today. but the birds seem to be settling into their new home

And those look great!! I love the stone idea too!! Means less digging LOL and looks great too

Love the stock tank idea too!! I have one but it’s a different brand and smaller. 110 gallons. I’m hoping it might still work though. Thinking of springing for the 300 gallon stock tank but idk. I have this one and another preformed hard pond liner so feel like I should use them. Not sure what size the liner is but it’s a weird shape and different depths.

My biggest thing too, besides being distracted by the birds, is I need to decide where to put it. My mom is being particular and she also wants a waterfall which I’m not really sure how to do.

Might end up just setting it up on the deck for now.

the 150 runs into the 300 which is why we left it a little higher....both have a standard waterfall running from the biofilter and we installed shower drain to combat overflow with the heavy rains and flooding in our area. my original pond was a liner and it flooded and overflowed horribly and i lost fish as a result. it was basically a nightmare. in addition to the waterfalls, i have a fountain filter in each one. I just added the one in the koi side that has UV light. my water lily survived and we plan to add more plants to the 150 as soon as the koi store opens up here (and i have $$ )

Thanks for all the info! Very helpful!! So you just put a drain in the floor or? I think the stock tank I have has a drain plug on the side but wasn’t sure if I should use that one or what haha and I’d probably need a separate filter or something for the waterfall I’m assuming? I bet it will look great when it’s done I still need to plant my betta tanks!

they don’t actually eat the plants, the plants help with water clarity, nitrogen levels, etc. they will eat some of the algae, but i feed mine floating fish food 1 to 5 times per day depending on temperature etc. the koi wrecked my plants most likely attempting to spawn.

get it built first, the fish moved in and then decide.....a water lily is nice because it provides shade and hiding for the fish.....that would be my recommendation once it’s done

i’m a big fan of the pond guy, but don’t have any personal experience with his filters......i know i have to clean mine weekly (ish) with the algae i’m getting now so its mainly a matter of how easy the maintenance is on that filter......the fountain portion typically tells you when it needs cleaning as the “bell” of water decreases in size as the filters get stopped up.

Thanks! I’ll wait then. Lillies seem like a good option! I didn’t realize they came in so many different colors.
