Put a mirror in front of him to make him flair, they normally poop when they flair.

Yeah, it seems to be pretty common from what I read. I’ve also read that once they get to such an advanced stage with the pineconing scales and bloat and everything they have a much lower chance of recovery.

I still haven’t done the salt bath or gotten any medicine yet.

I’m not sure I want to at this point. I might try it tomorrow but if he may or may not recover anyway, idk.

I think if he makes it through the night, I will try the salt thing tomorrow.

I honestly didn’t really skip it on purpose, I just forgot to today, but I might try it tomorrow. He’s a fighter and was on death’s door once before and I almost put him down so I’m hoping he makes it through this too.

But if it is dropsy and not just bloat or constipation, then between that and the fin rot, I am not sure he will make it anyway.

Plus the poor little guy already has poor vision and a runty fin.

But he seems to want to fight so I might give him a chance if he makes it through the night.

I've had about 2 out of many recover from dropsy. Most do not despite treating them. I have 4 more betta. I think I'm done with them for a while since they are hard to keep for me.

What did you do to treat them if you don’t mind me asking? It sounds awful but I’m not sure if it’s worth it if he won’t recover anyway.

But then I do love him a lot and he’s a fighter so he might be one of the ones that would recover! So idk.

I was hoping it might just be bloat or something but I don’t think so

Plus the weird fin which I think is a separate issue.

I just found this thread but I have quite a lot of fish,
