It’s been a battle with Rascal and something is really wrong with him this time. His cycle crashed hard after some medication and I didn’t keep checking parameters like I should’ve, so his nitrites were unbelievably high and I initially think he got nitrite burns ( if that’s a thing, I can’t get a definite answer. could it be saddleback disease? ) and now I think an infection has set in and fin rot. Poor boy is stubbornly hanging on as this whole shitshow started around January. I’ve tried getting kanaplex ( it’s on the way ) but couldn’t wait, so Im dosing his tank with maracyn 1 & 2. I know they’re hard on his organs but it’s all I have on hand other than paracleanse and ICH X. Should I try adding aquarium salt to his tank too?

I always add aquarium salt when I'm treating for any sort of disease or parasite. I don't dose as high as I would if I were treating ich or something (which is like 1 tsp per gallon!), but I usually do about 1/2 tsp per 2 gallons to help out. More or less depending on what else may be living in the tank--nerite snails don't seem to care about the added salt, but some freshwater plants are sensitive so you just need to be careful and/or be prepared to lose some plants.

I went ahead and added some using the 1/2tsp to 2 gallons you suggested. There’s nothing else in his tank other than him and I took the live plants out beforehand in case I decided to put aquarium salt in.

Poor thing! :(
Possibly swim bladder, could be any number of things though. Does she have trouble swimming in general? If she struggles to get to the surface, it'd be a good idea to lower the water level so that she doesn't have to fight to get to the surface. Also gives you less water to treat and clean out.

I put my two bettas together earlier this month and they did spawn, but the male ate all the eggs 9_9. Not sure why. SO I let them rest and heal up and cleaned out the spawning tank and I'll try again this week. Darn fish.

Nah, she’s been fine so far. She’s in a 10 gallon tank with another female fwiw. I guess I’ll just keep an eye on her and keep googling 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately I think she has died. She’s not moving, visibly breathing, and not responding to tapping on the tank/her fellow beta swimming past.

I also can’t seem to find my two ghost shrimp. Either I’m really sleepy (prob it) or they’ve passed as well. Darn :(
