That looks like a bacteria bloom. It doesn't necessarily mean anything's wrong. Get a testing kit and test the water parameters before you just go nuke the tank, you may just be in the middle of cycling. At a certain point in the ammonia cycle you'll get a bunch of bacteria in response to changing parameters in the water and you WANT that, it means the cycle is taking place appropriately.

FWIW two of my three large tanks have gone through bacteria blooms about six months into them being established. They were fine, I just backed off feeding a bit and shortened the lights-on hours until things cleared up and never had it happen again. One tank was a traditional one with filter and bubbler and decorative (not live) plants, the other is my filterless tank.
The third tank had an algae bloom and that was a struggle to get under control. Finally had to break down and get a UV sterilizer, which helped immensely.

(I am assuming that's a bacteria bloom from the photo. An algae bloom would look more green, all the bacteria blooms I've had look more whitish like that.)

My 29g tank tests perfect, 0 ammonia and nitrites, 5-10ppm nitrates, but I was seeing some bacterial growth on the cover so I committed to another deep clean.

One of my Kuhlis was injured, must have been under the sand as I was vacuuming.

She looks scraped. 😭

I try to be careful but it sometimes happens.

About 6-7 years ago I had a Kuhli injured during a deep clean, had a gaping wound. I did daily small water changes, she survived. Here she is over this past weekend:

See the scar? Tough little girl.
