Five-month old Australorp suddenly lame. Update: Now another pullet going lame!

May is roosting tonight. For the moment, anyway. She was restless when I put her in her bed, and I watched for a few minutes while she tried to hoist herself out of the box. I knew she was interested in roosting, so I put her on the perch beside April. April got to pecking May on the head as she often does, because Pearl has been a bed influence on her. I took April down, and moved Su-su over. That started a chain reaction and everyone fell off the perch except for...wait for this.....MAY!

Got everyone settled and I left and came back fifteen minutes later, and May was still clinging to the perch like a champ. I will check again before I go to bed.

A brief and flimsy update. I never thought I would say this sentence: May is now walking.

Her endurance increases each day, even though it's a little bit. She has acquired quite a bit of speed and self confidence in spite of her stiff right leg. She is still sometimes at a loss as to how to deal with a leg that defies total control. I watched her as she approached the food table. The right leg, having a "mind of its own" was in the way so she propped it up on the edge of the table. That's telling it who's the boss, May!
Amazing May!
