Hi, brand newbie here. I love your site and because of it was able to remove a boatload of lonnngg strands of hay, corn pellets etc., that was unable to pass through her crop (had to use surgery). So many, many thanks to your incredibly helpful posts/pictures and lists of how and when to do surgery!

She weathered the night, ate a 1/2 tsp. or so of yogurt this morning. I want to start her on antibiotics and all if have is Agrimycin Powder (oxytetracycline HCI soluble powder - 181.5g) I NEED A MATH GURU! I tried to convert to mg.s - but then I'm lost as to how much to put in a tiny cup of water. I also have Sulmet (?). Can I use any of these?

Shes a sweet, little layer named Beauty. I've got her under a heat lamp in the chick-firmary. Any ideas would be graciously appreciated!

Thank you again, everyone!

Hi Chickeybird!
Sorry I can't help with the antibiotic situation. I don't know enough to help you there. But I just wanted to be an encouragement to you. We're praying for you and Beauty.

Are you sure you need an antibiotic?? It has been my experience that TIME is often the best healer in animals of all kinds (including us humans). I guess it depends on what all was involved in the surgery. Until someone answers you, my advice would be to keep on keeping her warm and comfortable. I can't even help when it comes to food and drink, because I don't know how extensive the surgery was. Can you give us some more details on that? She may need a day or two to heal before you give her a lot of food or drink.

How old is Beauty?

Good luck and hang in there. Keep us posted on her progress.
