Flea Control on large breed dogs... Help

I have five Great Pys and a white GSD, the only thing that seems to work on them here in Fl is Comfortis. The others use to work, but not anymore. I hope one day you can get Comfortis w/o a vet.... It's just a big chew pill.

I use FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous earth on all my animals. It works. you can use it in the house, yard, pet exterior, and also put it in their food to control worms! It is natural and non-poisonous! Plus, the animals like being dusted with it because they are getting pets!!
You can even use it in your carpet, within hours it will kill every bug that touches it.
If your neighbor tries it, make sure NOT to use DE designed for pool filters, as this type is harmful to people and pets!
If you search for diatomaceous earth on the net, you will find a wealth of info on it. Can be used for soooo much, even has health benefits for people!
I live near Daytona, and believe me, it even works on sand fleas and fire ants!!

I dont normally advocate internal solutions.....but in your neighbors situation I would have to agree with the others on the comfortis. I might also consider Ivermectin pour-on at a slightly reduced dosage of 1 ml per 25 lbs of weight combined with the comfortis for the really bad months. If they are that flea and or mite ridden, they need the worming attributes anyway.

You and your neighbor might also consider examining a different product for the yard or rotating products...it could be that what you guys are using is not as effective as you would like it to be.
