Flock/Life Journey's 2019

There was a bit of a fad here on BYC several years ago about turning. Many were convinced that you needed to turn 6 plus times a day. There is no scientific evidence of this though. Turning needs to be adequate only and two or three times a day is pretty much the same as turning more times.

Now the current fad with no evidence of helping and often hurts is the safety hole. I will try not to get into that one too much on the Easter Hatch a long....

I felt like i had better quit i was blowing up this thread :lau like you lot just not enough hrs in the day i found myself over 100 posts behind on several occasions

I kinda feel like more is better if u can do like 5 times a day thats about what the hen would do isnt it? On the other hand im sure youll agree the turners mostly made to rotate them constantly are def overboard turning, and people might be tryn to keep up w that, so i wanted to specify to Krystal how few times it really takes. I know people who had success only turning twice a day but a full 180* rotation. Swore that it was better than a turner constantly moving them. Idk about That i think she mayve been a tad over zealous but whatever, right? :lau

I remember the safety hole :( was on an article yrs ago but if you've learned how a chick hatches it is in that instant they run out of air that they spaz and are able to pip, so wouldnt a safty hole prevent the ability to do so?

Cutest Thing Today! Thought you all would love this. A man brought his dog into our work today the dog was in training to become a dog that helps others that have disabilities. The dog was soooo cute and loves kids he kept sooking because he wanted the kids attention it was so cute. Couldn't take photos but.
Awww:love So sweet! I am going to school to become a dog trainer for special needs and police force :)

Yes!

There is a use for a hole but it is at the very end of a hatch before tossing the eggs. Very rarely there will be a chick in there that did not pip. I have had that happen once or twice when the egg tooth was missing on the chick.

It definitely is not worth the risk to do all the time and never at the beginning of when they start hatching.

I've decided to do my very first throw back Thursday, to when I incubated my current standard flock.

The chicks hatch date was September 22.
