That's wonderful! I love sheep. What breed are you thinking about getting?

We're thinking Dorper or Suffolk. We want to stay more towards the meat breeds.

Okay.. dilemma... how do I get this Silkie mama up and eating? She won’t move! No eat! No drink! I get the babies out from under her every now and then to make sure they are eating and drinking... but as soon as I do that she clucks them right back under her! She just wants to SIT!! Apparently she is still in broody mode and not yet mama mode!?

She should get off of the nest to eat and poop once a day. It can be short but not more than two hours.

She DOES NOT move ... I’m afraid to move her as I did before cuz now I think it would be traumatizing for her and the babies..

Okay, I got them out again but she didn’t get up.. When I sprinkled some food right in front of her she did this little funny clucking and apparently was showing them the food and they all went there to eat ... two are under..

Oh, and is it okay to feed her their medicated chick feed?
Maybe I’ll start a thread on raising chicks?
