Flock/Life Journey's 2019

I like the name Sunflower, she actually looks like one. How do you tell her and Luna apart?

If the duck can cover all eggs she is probably ok with them especially if it is not too cold in your area. After a week you could also candle and toss clear or bad eggs.

. I tried to tough it out at work by not complaining when my boss asked me to lift things but a lady told me someone got a MC that way (I don’t want to jinx anything so I’m not spelling out the word but you know what I mean), so I went to the doctor for him to write a note for my manager based on how many lbs max he believes a pregnant woman should lift. He wrote 10 lbs and after that she never asked me to lift those 20 lb milk bags that my coworkers always fussed to me that I shouldn’t lift them. She joked that I was weak so I was happy to hand her the note.

Good morning Krystal :)

Well I’m stressed about moving. But at least before that we are taking the baby to a university where they are doing a study on 14 month olds and we will also go out for my birthday so that should be fun.

. I think my mom sent me the same YouTube video yesterday, the one with different hens protecting their chicks?

I often got impatient when pregnant too.

WhoDat your coop looks amazing.

I probably forgot to quote some posts..oh well DS will probably wake from his nap soon then I gotta charge my phone

She does doesn’t she :lau.
Sunflower’s comb and wattles are a lot bigger and Luna has better penciling in her feathers.

Hello people, and chickens of course....
@WhoDatChick
I've been looking at your coop pictures. I have some questions if you don't mind.:p
How big is the entire area?
How many chickens live in it?
Is the hardware mesh on the floor attached to the coop base in any way?
How much approximately did it cost to build?
Do you free range at all. I think I saw a picture with chickens outside but I can't find it now.:(
The coop looks good. One of the better ones I've seen.:)
Thank you so much!!
Okay, two 12x12 runs.. so 288 square feet.. 16 feet of roosts.. five nest boxes.. 14 chickens in total.. that’s counting the 6 new babies.
Yes, hardware cloth is attached to the bottom and goes out about a foot and a half to two feet around the entire coop.. but it’s only attached to the outside of coop.. it does not cover the coop floor on inside... you may have seen where there is some on the inside.. that’s because of where it was on the outside of the original coop and then we added the other 12x12 to one side.
I would say right at $2000 for the entire coop.. that also includes 200 feet of farm fencing that we plan to put up around the coop for an outside yard.. I may only do 100 feet though.. we’ll see. Plus, string to weave back and forth over the top of yard for protection.
And yes, I have let the gals out for some free ranging inside my little 2 foot high “puppy fence” which is right out my back door and encloses part of my yard.. BUT no more... it didn’t take them long to start jumping that fence :barnie.. that’s why I want them to have their OWN yard!
I think that’s everything.. thanks again :)

Im struggling today. Forgetting things. I did our fortnightly bills and thought we were over budget by $250 when really we are well within our budget with extra money to play with, plus savings also. So I was having a meltdown since we are going camping aswell.
Almost locked the keys in the truck im working in at the moment.
Customers today wanted to have a disagreement while I wasn't feeling well. Felt like telling them to get out.
Im usually so patience but not today.

totally normal! my friends and i call it baby brain... your body is doing something it never did before and the hormone levels are off the charts. unfortunately brain function goes out the window. The first 3 months are super hard on your body, learning now to nap or rest when you can is going to help you in the long run. :hugs:hugs:love:love and give yourself grace...

Thanks for replying.:)
Good job on the coop.

Flock Update:

My big ones have learned that if I open the top hatch to get the waterer and feed bin they take this opportunity to "escape". :th I caught Ketchup right away her chest looks a bit tender but i don't see any actual scratches this morning so yay! boo on her for encouraging the others to fly the coop :rant I ended up chasing Soy around the shed for about 10 minutes... I should be good on my work out now for the week. :gig Soy realized that she was the only one out and quickly started getting all the food and mealworms that had been left or dropped. This sooooo ticked off the others that i nearly had a chicken upraising! And to top it off she scared the babies by trying to get over their fence! :barnie So anyways it's been fun. :lau

Everyone is looking happy and healthy otherwise. I did get a message from a lady asking if she could see the white Easter Eggers (not amerucanas, no tufts have formed) on friday or saturday when she came through here. I said sure. So we will see.

As @MysticUniKitty said: baby brain is a real thing. :hugs And this is the easy bit. :) We're all cheering for you & bubs.

My boss is really good so if im stuggling then ill tell him. But he may even replace me where I am until after I give birth. The only thing im lifting is 4 bollards that are 8kg each and the steps to the truck which aren't heavy just awkward but I have someone with me so I can ask them to pick up the steps.
