Flock/Life Journey's 2019

This colour is going to be for my Coop Updates.
This is some of the ideas I have written down so far.

  • 44 gallon plastic drum for catching water off the tin roof.
  • More cup water feeders.
  • 6 to 8 nesting boxes.
  • Plastic containers for nesting boxes for easy cleaning.
  • Sand in the roost and run (still think further on this).
  • Pavers under the water and feeders. Hopefully less mess in the feeders.
  • 10kg x2 outside feeders. The ones the chickens stand on to open them.
  • Roosting area above the Nesting boxes making it darker.
  • Curtains on the front of the boxes.
  • Netting over the top of the run with wire or cable to help keep it high up.
  • Plants around the outside of the coop - chicken friendly for them to munch on.
  • Table and Chairs to sit with them while they are free ranging.
  • A grass patch in the coop thats meshed off for the ladies to eat.
  • Dust bathing area.
If you think of any ideas I could consider please let me know :hugs:love

All sounds good! The only thing is... my old set up.. I had the roosts and the nests in the same area... the roosts were not over the nest as my nests are open but they were in front of them so sometimes there was poop on the edge of the nests and all the poop in front of the nests.. so it makes the area dirty.. I would scoop it daily but if they lay eggs before I’d scoop you could have dirty eggs from tracking the poop! That’s why I moved my roosts to a different area and now have a nest only area.. and separate roost area... Just something to think about :)

Sounds good so far!
I know I'm trying to add a roof to my run (plug plug plug lol) which I found to be worth the extra money. Dust baths anytime, not so messy runs and no snow to shovel out. Even though my run roof is half of the run, it's still super helpful.

I want a poop tray above the nesting boxes so its dark but no poop gets in front of the nesting boxes.

Yeah ill be making sure there is enough windows and the door will be made also so not heavy. It isn't too cold here at times so no need for it to be too enclosed.
