Whew finally got caught up lol

Jeannie your twins look like DH and his brother except they have green eyes like their mom. DH is the younger one by I don't know how many minutes but he almost died since they were born 3 months early. DS has hazel eyes, I have hazel also but his is more green and sometimes blue. I read it take til they're 3 to get their true eye color.

Kayla your muscovy ducklings look just like my mom's did, she had each of those 3 colours. She had blue in another batch too.

We're taking DS to the clinic tonight..he climbed on the drawer and it fell on his nose. I was watching him but it just happened so fast. We put baby locks on it now so he won't be able to do it again. His nose bled but other than that he seems ok but we still got him an appointment to get checked out.

Once they get over 7-7.5 lbs live weight watch them closely a 7.7lbs bird should give you 5lbs of carcass weight. If you can get them to 9.5lbs live, you'll get a 6 lbs carcass. And just a tip about stock... Browning the neck and back enhance the flavor of the stock as does roasting the bird. Save the feet and use them in your stock they add a lot of collagen. If you would like to watch a vid on the process, pm me and I'll hook you up with what I used. But they weren't enough so I had to go to the farm and watch up close and personal.

Flock Update:

Well it looks like she wasn't broody just annoyed with my nest box selection and was building a better one.

Tossed a handful of scratch for them in opposite corner and grabbed TWO eggs, both cold to the touch.

Looks like one light brown and one cream colored eggs! My 5 yr old is over the moon and wants them for breakfast that's my lil farmer right there! I told him we'd do just that!

What a fun thread. I raise ducks and I know yall are just a bunch of chicken raising peeps....so I won't worry about talking about myself and my ducks. Yalls chickens look so nice and pretty...now I kinda want some chickens...but I know chicken math works the same as ducks math...and that would lead me in the wrong direction. Can't wait to hear more from you guys!

I am happy duck! Live in the south and have a flock of 4 ducks. It consist of 1 pekin(male) and 3 buff orpingtons(female). I have had them for a year and have loved almost every moment of it(you know...we all have those moments we don't love). I feel that my ducks have changed my life...I am more happy and I have learned to be more responsible. I have loved BYC and can't explain how much it has helped me. I love how people who all have the same passion can just get on and chat, ask Q's, and share something we all love. I have loved how nice the people are on here and how welcoming and helpful they have all been. I hope to continue to help others, meet others, and learn so much more. If the ducks could talk they would probably thank you guys that I was able to ask the questions that I did(when I was first starting out)...because if not...it could have cost them there life. I can't wait to hear more about yall and meet more of yalls chickens(and maybe ducks too). Here are some pics of my flock(taken today) and all the eggs I have no idea what to do with.

oh...also forgot to say that our 2 of our cats just had kittens. We have a total of 11 and they are so fun!
