I can't go any longer.I have roosting issues at the moment as well. I am going to have to rearrange and build a longer and taller roost since everyone loves the top in mine as wellMolting is always the worst. I remember my first hen and it scared me when I walked in the coop and saw her completely de-feathered.
I got the man to build my roosts the full width of the coop as it is. They would do 30 birds easy & I only have 12. If I go in & stuff round I can get everyone up there ~ & I have done it if it's the little partridge bantam that gets left out just because she is so tiny & liable to feel the cold more. Plus she's really easy to squeeze in under somebody ~ usually the frizzle who also needs the extra warmth.The BA in question has been molting for months.
I was hoping for an easy molt but it is obviously going to be a full molt. *sigh* I really feel for her. It must be so uncomfortable & our weather is cooling off now. Plus she looks awful! Absolutely ratty.
