When I decided to rehome him he was standing upto my hip. He was chasing the girls around a lot and my coop wasn't big enough for him to he doing that all day. Also he was starting to do the mating dance to me and I was like hell no you gotta go.
He wasn't the best protector but. We had a fox attack and my partner and I went after the fox in the rain and mud and I look back and Gin is just watching over the bushes! I was like coward!

He started trying to be aggressive with me as he started getting older but I usto just pick him up and hold him until he stopped what he was doing and sat on my hip and just chilled then I would put him down. When I rehomed him he loved me. I hope he has loads of hens now and a loving family.
:love

Throwback Thursday~
Here is my TBT for this week. These were 14 chicks. I kept a special oddball, Rose. :love These chicks were sooo sweet. I took them outside everyday and caught grasshoppers, etc. for them. :wee But I decided they’d be better off elsewhere.(keep in mind, I hadn’t put together a “good” coop yet) My uncle wanted them... and he has taken great care of them. They’re all alive to this day! :woot Here they are as babies and now at his house. :)

I couldn’t get them all in one picture, or 2 sorry! :lau

Keep us updated with the house situation love.
We are very lucky to have 10 acres. We are the only couple in our friends and family that have acreage. My Aunty has 1 acre. But thats all pretty much everyone we know lives in suburban households.

You have IKEA too? Is it like a maze when you go in there?
Will do! Yes IKEA is a total maze! After the restaurant I got on the elevator thinking it was the exit.. it took me to another place, but the best part is I discovered these plastic bins that were only $7 and big enough to house a pair of button quail :) I can't wait to go back and get them when we move, no space for them here now. The lid is another $3 but I read that I can just use clothes pins. I want to be as cost effective as possible so that DH will be more supportive when I need to get more bins for more button quail.

OMG!
I SAVED A SPIDER FROM THE OFFICE AT WORK. CAREFULLY TOOK HIM OUTSIDE. LET HIM FREE AND THEN!!! A BIRD SWOOPS DOWN AND EATS HIM!!!!
Oh my! I am always saving spiders too. Charlotte, Spiderman, that itsy bitsy spider, who wouldn't?

But ahh the bird had to get it, reminds me of the saying, the early bird gets the worm so the worm should've stayed in bed, but that's not really an option when they are at work where other people might get to them.

Hmm my emoticons aren't working today.

Thank the lord for birds :bow Spiders are evil! But that stinks, all that work for nothing! :gig
LOL I had a roommate named Shayla that HATED spiders..now I know a Kayla that despises them.

Weather Update:
Cyclone Warning has been issued.
Goodness gracious..how is the weather now? I hope you and others in that part of Australia are okay.

Flock Update:
My ladies are free ranging at the moment. Thought I better get as much as I can in before any rain happens and they are cooped up.

Im selling my first dozen of eggs tomorrow to someone I work with. Im really excited about it! $3 a dozen which is pretty cheap here. And that money will start going to the coop savings aswell. :celebrate

Got 2 eggs today :D
Congrats! Must be exciting to sell eggs.

Almond is 6 months and 18 days old today.

For Throw Back Thursday I am doing it on my ol' pup Cookie.

Back in 2011 when I stepped outside of work for fresh air a tiny applehead chihuahua come over to me. I was able to take her home and looked online at craigslist and the shelter's lost and found book to see if anyone was looking for her. I did that for about a week and nothing..anyways I got really attached to her and one day I thought she was missing..my mom and I looked for her everywhere and finally found her in the pillowcase..yes she went into the pillow and slept in the pillow case. She was full grown but about the size of a puppy, an actual teacup chihuahua. We named her lucky because my mom and grandma said when dogs come into your life it's a sign of luck. Well Lucky went missing for good one day.

I missed Lucky so much I decided I needed a white and tan chihuahua just like her. I looked online and found a puppy for sale for $200 but it was a boy and didn't have shots and wasn't neutered. I looked again and found at California's Kern County Animal Control there was the highest kill rate at the state (at the time, not sure about now) and I saw a 6 month old puppy that resembled her. She was a deerhead which is better anyway because they can breathe better.

I called the shelter and they told us to come see the puppy. We drove 4 hours there only to be told we couldn't take her home because she wasn't spayed. So 2 weeks later we went back and we were able to take her home. She was only $60 and had shots, microchip and was spayed. On the way home someone called my by mistake asking for a person named Cookie. Then I decided we should name her Cookie, after all she did come from Bakersfield. We think she was abused because she was shaking a lot and had incontinence issues but we housetrained her. She loved riding in the car with my mom. Cookie was a great dog, she killed one of my chickens but never touched a chicken after that. It might have been because she was flogged down by a broody hen and the muscovy ducks really scared her off.

On February 23, 2014 after meeting with 2 of my friends for bubble tea I drove home and saw her dead in front of our house...someone must've left the door open and she dashed out and got hit by a car.

RIP Cookie.

Back in 2015 when Sadie was a pullet. (Della is in the back) Both of them look so different, especially the coloring and the comb. Makes me smile. :)

I apologize for my infrequent visits on BYC... Hope to be on more often!
Very Nice!
