The flock is doing good, free-ranging at the moment. I'm so excited about my first egg! I can't wait for more to start laying.

I'm sorry about Tank. I'm sure he was the bestest boy!

First eggs are always so exciting... I LOVE gathering my eggs daily ... it never gets old!

Can you get cartons there that hold six eggs? if so, i'd get them and charge at least 2 if not 3. Glad people see their value.

The short answer is, yes. Not everyone sells 1/2 cartons though & I find when I use the proper 1/2 carton [as opposed to the ones cut in half] I don't get returns. I have one lot of neighbours who save their cartons for me ~ but I don't charge for the eggs they get. We have a little exchange system going: they get our eggs, veggies when we have them, fish & crab when my boys are round & we get free wood for the fire, avocados, biscotti [they make GREAT biscotti] & whatever else is going.

Today I had a sad moment. In my house I have 2 air fresheners that spray every 30 or so minutes that keeps the air smelling nice.
One in the toilet and one in the lounge room. I use different flavors for each and this afternoon I put new refills in it. The one in the toilet the smell just makes me think of Tank. I must've had that flavor somewhere in the house when I had him or around the time he passed away.
I almost dropped to the ground crying today. Jordan held me and made me feel better but damn I miss you baby.

I have a cat I still miss 10 years on.... He was rather special. You don't forget the special ones.

Morning/evening everyone. It's 4am here & I've just put my son on the first boat off the island. It's going to be a long day...

Let the girls free range in the rain yesterday ~ light afternoon showers. I thought they'd huddle under the verandah but, nope. Out scrabbling all over. Think someone might be moulting. She's certainly not laying.

lol Sadly this is not all that unusual for me. As I've got older I sleep badly in the early hours. Rather than toss & turn I get up.

I don't mind in summer. It's quiet & cool & I get to see the sun rise over the bay. Winter is another matter....

Afternoon everyone!
Sad news got a better light to candle quail eggs and looks like they got that air bubble and that was the end of growth. So we shall try again later!

Good news! I went and cleaned and set up my big new brooder since it's crazy warm today and set up in barn. I moved my chicks to new crib and they are in love! Here's some photos of them hogging one feeder when there was a second right. Beside. Them!

It was just devastating me. I had to share with you all. I just went straight to Jordan and said hold me please. I was fighting back tears.
