Flock stolen-may be in Barrington nh

This is just all so frustrating and confusing to me. They are your birds. He stole them. Why is the law not on your side?! That seems so stupid

There MUST be something we can do.

Here is an excerpt from a page off Maine's Agriculture website. Notice the part at the end that I have put in bold. Jean's idea really might work here. If those chickens have been imported into Maine without the proper permits, you might stand a chance of them being taken away from that man and given back to you, providing that you get the proper permits. I have contacted the Lebanon PD, The Barrington PD, and the Houlton PD which is near Stacyville, ME. No one has heard of the case. I am NOT saying that this is not happening. -just that no one I TALKED TO has heard of it.

I talk with them about procedure of a situation like this and all of them said there is NOTHING they could do!!!!!!!!!

That she needs to take them to court which could take months!!!!!

This collaborates her story, I believe and I am so upset for 4peeps. It seams like she is right, it's just getting pushed aside.

What they said was to start at the Houlton PD and file a report and the investigation will take them to the Lebanon PD. While this is happening, pursue the criminal suit at the courthouse in Lebanon (you may be able to file online. -I will check that out)

4peeps, this will take some time, but I assure you, since you have pics of your flock (from all ages) the courts will give you your birds and you will win pain and suffering from this #$%hole! -and of course the cost of the lost birds though we all know it won't be worth it. But, this guy has a record already and will most likely go to jail.

I suggest you plan a meetup where some friends or fellow bycers in the area can help you do some of these things. Maybe even contact the paper in Lebanon and have them do a story on livestock laws and how this could happen to anyone. dogs, cats, cows... whithout releasing the man's name (they might do that)

Im still on it and Im glad to see so much support from everyone else in helping 4 peeps get her birds back!! Anyone from NH willing to give this lady a helping hand????

After 108 posts of advice, I am wondering if someone here is pulling our leg. I'm not trying to be mean, but over the past year, I have heard similar sounding stories, and would hate to think that these wonderful big hearted supportive members on this board are being, well, having their good heartedness messed with.

seminolewind- call the state police at this number and ask them about me and the flock being stolen- they will tell u ive been in touch and complained ect. heres the number-207-657-3030,my name is kim . you shouldnt think that someone is pulling your leg just because the law doesnt help. why wouldi go thru all this? for attention-no thanks.id rather be happy with my birds n children and be out in the barn talking to my flock than dealing with this. as i said earlier i understand peoples doubts -it sounds so crazy but its happening and can easily be proofed by calling the state police at that number.
