FLORIDA is so Prehistoric!!!Bit by a SCORPION!!!OWIES!!!RANT

Ok, I have spiders all over my house. I love them and refuse to kill them even when
DW gets mad. BUT THEY ARE TINY!!! If I found a spider that big I'd run away
screaming like a little girl.

* LOL, LOL!! THAT would be fun to watch, at a distance!!!

Oh my!!!! He is stunning!!! I have had numerous tarantulas and mine were rather...well, bland. I adored them anyway, but would LOVE to have one that beautiful.

They're one of my favorites! Most of the Brachypelma...vagans, boehmi, smithi, albopilosum are very beautiful and also very affordable. A spiderling through mail order will cost you 5-20 dollars depending on species. They do grow slowly, though. But, they are cute when they're tiny babies, too. Nhandu chromatus and other Nhandu species look similar but are less common.

I miss Bob, the Goliatg Bird Eating Tarantula from work.
He could have a bit of an attitude, but he didn't with me...

I got bit by a Columbian Tarantula, don't remember the exact breed...and the next day he was dead...I guess I was the venomous one.

We had a rose hair that I could pick up...I sold it to a person who was interested...I could pick her up and she walked all over me...I was impressed that she was nice.

Sorry folks! I haven't been able to come online for a couple of days. Preparing the fam to go up north to pic up the stepsons.

This'll be my 2 boys' first trip up north. And without me! Can't leave the chickadees alone.

SPARROW WROTE:
I posted what I thought, and after several years of being a scorpion and other arachnid keeper and educator//

I'm just doing what I do, because I want as many people as possible to understand some of the creatures that I love a little better than perhaps they did before.

Sparrow,
I didn't mean to make you mad about calling you an activist! It was meant in fun. Since Prehistoric animal activists don't and can't really exhist now can they?
You're about as much a Prehistoric animal activist as I am a cruel animal hater!
Tact is very important. (For all of us) It is possible to share your expertice and leave out the mean stuff. That post in responce was not intended to anger. I felt I needed to defend myself. Asking me why I moved to Florida did seem like an attack, criticizing me about my choice of words, Sorry pal but that was not playing nice. The fact is you never even let me know you were an expert on bugs either.

I would've picked your brain for help if you had made that clear to me. I AM SO TERRIBLY SORRY TO YOU AND ALL MY BYC FREINDS! Can you ever forgive me? Lets be friends OK?

Purple chicken, Thanks again friend for coming to my aid. And speaking for me in my absence. Let's just get along. I freely accept wisdom and knowledge from other BYC PEEPS! But I won't mince words when I feel attacked. This is the place where we leave the judgement out of the net!
PURPLE CHICKEN ALSO WROTE:
I just re-read this post and think that Chickfillhay needs to watch out for Sushi.
That darn cat acted like she didn't know the scorpion was there but DID SHE?
Hmmmm.

Poor Sushi! He's really clueless! He does remind me from time to time that he still likes birds though, and mice!
But he comes by the chicken coop and STARES at the chickens inside while I'm there with them.
The chickens run to the front to look out at him with their necks stretched out. Next time I'll have to get a picture and share it!

LOVE TO ALL MY BYC FRIENDS.

Chickfillhay, I have been reading this and just wanted to let you know that I am glad you turned to BYC in a time of need and support. How great is it that people turn to this site for all sorts of issues. I am fairly new here but love the wonderful advice I have seen. I have learned alot about these new chicks I am trying to raise. Glad you are better,

that must have been painful.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!

I love this forum very very much! Living rurally, I don't see people much anymore. (a bit of a culture shock for a girl from downtown Philly where finding a sushi restaurant was a matter of taking 10 steps in any direction) So its nice to have somebody with the same interests to talk to.

THANKS!
