Florida welfare drug testing

Quote:
All State of NC employees, which includes teachers and schoolbus drivers, must pass a drug test prior to employment. You are also subject to random drug tests. (I had 4 randoms) If you are suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the job, you are subject to imediate testing. (I had 3 employees that had to be tested, 2 failed!)

Test them all! I can provide all the documentation I need to show that the narcotics I am on are prescribed by a doctor. Heck I've got Oxy. Do you know how much one pill sells for on the street? The bottle of pills that I've had since November(30pills) could have made my house payments for a year! I don't wear $100 clothes, shoes, etc.... but I know a whole lot of those getting assistance that do and if you know just by looking att them that the $$ isn't coming from the government.

I guess it will be just dandy if banks start mandatory drug testing before giving loans now .

I thought this was about food stamp recipients? heck if they start drug testing SSI and SSD peeps they would fail for sure with all the prescription drugs they/ I take

Why not? It is the banks' money, they should choose the conditions of the loan. We decide whether or not we are willing to agree to those conditions.

Me too, Boyd, as I don't do drugs nor take out any loans.

And there lies the rub....it's easy to say how things should be done to a group of people when you are not one of them. Generalizations are just that, they do not apply well to individual people and not all welfare recipients are abusing the system, doing drugs or anything else that would violate anyone's sensibilities.

But many of you feel they should be subjected to the same policy because they are receiving assistance. No problem if you have nothing to hide, right? And it isn't....same as if a cop stops you and searches your car for no reason. Hey, if you have nothing to hide then it's no problem....unless your neighbor or your boss sees you pulled over and having your car searched by dogs. Then it hits YouTube. Then your privacy, for no reason at all, has been violated and people are assuming those cops stopped you for a very good reason. You feel bad even though you had nothing to hide and you did nothing to deserve a stop and search.

I can see where a whole group of people, some having done nothing wrong but just needing a hand up for one reason or another, should be made to feel like criminals for the actions of a few.

a cop doing that for no reason would be in violation of the 4th ammendment though.. I wouldn't worry about work at that point as my name would then be over the township hall, or they paid me a big settlement... see the difference?

I wonder how many people that are arguing so strongly for mandatory drug testing of welfare recipients would argue just as strongly against government intrusion if the government started inspecting their flocks, limiting their garden sizes, and other related self reliance issues. Oh yeah, what about drinking raw milk. The government sticks its nose in many places. Some we welcome, some we don't.

It isn't just about drug testing. The ACLU might be a pain in the rear but it also tries to limit government intrusion.
